NDC API integration services
NDC API integration: airline-direct offers in your booking flow
New Distribution Capability (NDC) is the IATA-backed standard that lets airlines distribute their own offers, ancillaries and dynamic prices to travel sellers through APIs. We integrate NDC airline content into websites, booking engines and B2B portals, through aggregators or direct airline connections, and blend it with the GDS and consolidator fares you already sell, in one search and one booking flow.

What NDC actually changes
New Distribution Capability is a data standard introduced by IATA in 2012 so that airlines can distribute rich, airline-controlled offers through third-party channels, instead of only publishing fares into the traditional GDS filing system. The practical shifts for a travel seller are real:
- Airline-created offers: the airline builds and prices the offer you display, rather than your system constructing fares from filed data
- Ancillaries in the flow: seats, bags, meals and bundles can be offered and sold inside your booking path, not just on the airline website
- More dynamic pricing: many NDC programmes support continuous or demand-driven pricing, so prices can move more freely than filed fare classes
- Offer-and-order model: bookings become orders managed with the airline, a different servicing model from the classic PNR-and-ticket world
- Content differences: some airlines reserve certain fares, discounts or ancillaries for NDC channels
What NDC does not change: you still need commercial permission to sell, you still need payment, accreditation or consolidator arrangements for settlement, and you still need a website that converts. NDC is a content channel, not a business model.
Adoption is also uneven, and pretending otherwise leads to bad architecture. Some airlines run mature NDC programmes with meaningful content advantages; others expose a thin subset of what their website sells, or restrict programmes by market and seller type. The right integration plan starts from the specific carriers on your routes, not from the acronym.
Aggregator vs direct airline connections
There are two ways to reach NDC content, and most businesses should not start with the second.
| NDC aggregator | Direct airline NDC | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | One API that fronts many airlines' NDC programmes; GDSs and specialist aggregators both play this role | Your platform certified against one airline's own NDC API |
| Airlines covered | Many carriers through a single integration, coverage varying by aggregator | Exactly one carrier per connection |
| Effort | One integration, one schema to maintain | Per-airline certification, testing and maintenance |
| Who it suits | Agencies and OTAs that want breadth quickly | High-volume sellers with a strategic reason to connect a specific carrier |
Our default recommendation is aggregator-first: prove that NDC content earns its place in your results, then add direct connections only where volume on a specific airline justifies the certification and upkeep. Both are integrations we build; the difference is who stands between you and the airline commercially.
Where NDC fits beside your GDS and consolidator content
Very few agencies sell NDC content alone. The realistic architecture is multi-source: NDC offers beside GDS fares and consolidator content, merged into one results page with one booking flow. That is a search-orchestration problem more than an API problem, and it is the heart of what we build:
- Parallel search across NDC, GDS and consolidator sources with sensible timeouts
- De-duplication and honest labelling when the same itinerary appears from several sources at different prices
- Routing each booking to the source it came from, with its own servicing rules attached
- Caching strategies that respect each supplier's rules while keeping results fast
This is the same multi-source engine that powers our flight API integration and flight booking engine work; NDC becomes one more source with its own connector. For a plain-language comparison of the source types, see our guide to flight booking API options compared.
The honest part: servicing NDC orders
Shopping NDC content is the easy half. Changes, cancellations and refunds run through the airline's order management rather than the familiar GDS servicing flows, and capability differs by airline and by aggregator. Before you commit, we map how each content source in your mix handles voids, changes and refunds, and we build your admin panel around what each source actually supports, so your operations team is not promised buttons that do nothing. Where a flow genuinely has to fall back to a manual step with the airline or aggregator, we say so in the scope and design the panel to track it, because a documented manual step beats a silent failure during disruption.
Practical readiness questions
We open every NDC scoping conversation with the same questions; the answers decide the architecture:
- Which airlines matter to your revenue, and do their NDC programmes reach your market and point of sale?
- Do you have (or which aggregator gives you) commercial access to those programmes?
- How will payment and settlement work: your accreditation, an aggregator's arrangements, or a consolidator?
- What happens on day two: who handles changes, refunds and disruption for NDC orders?
- Does NDC content actually beat the fares you already have, or is it addition for its own sake?
If the answers say NDC is premature, we will say so and build you a strong GDS or consolidator flow first, with an architecture that accepts an NDC connector later without a rewrite.
How we run an NDC integration project
Source strategy
We review your airline priorities, existing supplier access and aggregator options, and scope which NDC route fits. Written scope, fixed quote.
Connector build
Shopping, offer, order and payment flows built against the aggregator or airline sandbox, alongside your existing content sources.
Certification and blending
We support the certification the airline or aggregator requires, then merge NDC results into your live search with clear source handling.
Launch and iterate
Production launch with monitoring per source, and measurement of whether NDC offers actually win bookings in your mix.
Independence and trademarks
NDC and New Distribution Capability refer to a standard of IATA; IATA, airline names and aggregator names are trademarks of their owners. Globitude Travels & Tech is an independent software integrator: not affiliated with, endorsed by or partnered with IATA, any airline, GDS or aggregator, and not a seller of their content. Access to NDC programmes always runs on your own commercial agreements.
Frequently asked questions
What is NDC API integration?
It is connecting your booking platform to New Distribution Capability content: airline-created offers, ancillaries and dynamic prices distributed through APIs, either from an aggregator that fronts many airlines or directly from an individual airline's NDC programme. The integration covers shopping, offers, orders, payment handling and servicing workflows.
Do travel agencies actually need NDC?
It depends on the airlines you sell. Some carriers keep certain fares, discounts or ancillaries for NDC channels, which can matter competitively on those routes; on other routes your existing GDS or consolidator fares remain perfectly strong. We assess airline by airline rather than selling NDC as a slogan.
Should I connect to airlines directly or use an NDC aggregator?
Aggregator-first for almost everyone: one integration, many carriers, less certification burden. Direct airline connections make sense when a single carrier carries enough of your volume to justify its own certification and maintenance. The two can coexist in one platform.
Can NDC content appear alongside GDS fares in one search?
Yes, and that is the normal end state: NDC, GDS and consolidator sources searched in parallel, de-duplicated, and booked through whichever source each offer came from. Building that blended flow, with per-source servicing rules, is the core of our NDC work.
What is different about servicing NDC bookings?
NDC bookings are orders managed with the airline rather than classic PNR-and-ticket records, and change, refund and disruption handling varies by airline and aggregator. We map those capabilities per source during scoping and build your operations panel around what each connection genuinely supports.
