Transfer, car rental and insurance APIs
Transfer and travel insurance API integration
Transfer API integration adds airport pickups, point-to-point rides and chauffeur services to your booking flow; a travel insurance API adds policy quotes and issuance at checkout. Both are add-ons that raise the value of a flight or hotel booking without new marketing spend. We integrate them for travel agencies, OTAs, B2B portals and destination management companies in India, the US, Canada and the UK.

Transfer API integration
A transfer API lets your platform quote and book ground transport from a supplier network of licensed operators: airport-to-hotel pickups, point-to-point rides between cities or attractions, and hourly or full-day chauffeur services. It is one of the smaller modules in a travel API integration project, but it is the one most often attached to an existing flight or hotel sale, because the customer already has a date, an airport and a hotel address.
A complete transfer integration covers:
- Quotes: pickup and drop-off locations (airport terminal, hotel, address or coordinates), date and time, passenger and luggage count, returning vehicle classes with prices and inclusions
- Booking: flight number capture for arrival tracking, lead passenger details, special requests (child seats, extra stops) and confirmation with a supplier reference
- Amendments: change of time, flight or passenger count, with re-pricing and supplier acknowledgement
- Driver details: driver name, vehicle and contact number pushed to the customer before pickup where the supplier exposes them
- Cancellation: policy check, free-cancellation windows and refund handling
- Vouchers: branded confirmation with meeting-point instructions and the supplier emergency number
Transfers are sensitive to timing. A late flight with no driver waiting is a complaint you will hear about. We build the flight-number link and the driver-detail notification as standard rather than as options, so the supplier has what it needs to track the arrival.
Car rental API, briefly
Where your customers drive themselves, a car rental API adds search by location and dates, vehicle categories, rental terms (mileage, insurance excess, fuel policy), driver age rules and booking with a pickup voucher. We integrate rental APIs from broker networks and, where available, directly from rental companies. The flow sits beside transfers in the same checkout step, and the two are rarely both needed on one trip, so the interface offers one or the other based on the customer's choice.
Travel insurance API integration
A travel insurance API lets your platform search available plans for a trip, quote a premium from the traveller details and itinerary, issue the policy document at payment and hand off claims to the insurer. It is typically presented as a checkbox or a short comparison at the end of a flight or package booking.
- Policy search: plans filtered by destination region, trip duration, traveller ages and cover type (single trip, multi-trip, student, senior)
- Quotes: premium calculation with cover summary, exclusions and the policy wording document
- Issuance: policy number and PDF certificate generated on payment and stored against the booking
- Claims hand-off: a claims link or form that passes the policy number and traveller details to the insurer claims process; the insurer, not your platform, assesses the claim
- Endorsements and cancellation: date changes and policy cancellation within the free-look period where the insurer API supports it
A note on regulation. Selling or distributing insurance is a regulated activity in most countries, including India, the US, Canada and the UK. Depending on your market and the arrangement with the insurer, you may need a licence, registration or a formal intermediary or referral agreement before insurance can be offered on your platform. We build the technical integration; we do not advise on whether you are permitted to sell. Confirm your position with the insurer and a qualified adviser in your jurisdiction before launch. Where transfers and insurance fit
| Use | How it appears | Who uses it |
|---|---|---|
| Checkout add-on | After flight or hotel selection, a transfer quote pre-filled from the airport and hotel, and an insurance option priced for the trip dates. | OTAs and agencies running a flight booking engine or hotel booking engine |
| Standalone product | A transfer search page or insurance quote page for customers who booked the main trip elsewhere. | Agencies with strong organic or campaign traffic |
| B2B agent product | Transfers and insurance as modules in the agent portal with net rates and tiered markups. | Consolidators running a B2B travel portal |
| DMC operations | Transfers booked against an itinerary with driver details shared with the ground team; insurance included in package quotes. | Destination management companies using DMC software |
For destination management companies the transfer integration has a second purpose: it can replace a spreadsheet of driver allocations. Bookings from the API flow into the operations view alongside contracted local transfers, so the team sees every pickup for the day in one list.

Transfer and insurance modules are usually added to a platform that already exists, so much of the timeline depends on how that platform is built. We review it first and quote on what we find. [TO CONFIRM: typical delivery window to state publicly]
Pricing approach
Fixed quote per supplier integration. Adding transfers and insurance together, or adding them to a portal we built, is priced lower than separate projects. Support is a monthly plan covering supplier API changes. [TO CONFIRM: whether to publish starting prices]
Frequently asked questions
What is transfer API integration?
Transfer API integration connects your booking platform to a ground transport supplier network so you can quote and book airport pickups, point-to-point rides and chauffeur services inside your own checkout. It covers quotes by location and vehicle class, booking with flight-number tracking, amendments, cancellations, driver details and branded vouchers.
Can transfers be sold automatically with a flight booking?
Yes. Once a flight and hotel are selected, the platform already knows the airport, arrival time and hotel address, so the transfer quote can be pre-filled and offered as a one-click add-on before payment. The flight number is passed to the supplier so the driver can track delays.
How does a travel insurance API work?
The API takes trip details (destinations, dates, traveller ages) and returns available plans with premiums and policy wording. On payment it issues the policy and returns a policy number and certificate PDF, which your platform stores and emails to the customer. Claims are submitted to the insurer through a hand-off link; the insurer assesses them.
Do I need a licence to sell travel insurance on my website?
Possibly. Insurance distribution is regulated in India, the US, Canada, the UK and most other markets, and the rules depend on your country and the arrangement you have with the insurer. We build the integration but do not give legal or regulatory advice. Check with the insurer and a qualified adviser before offering insurance. [TO CONFIRM: wording reviewed by your legal adviser]
Can a DMC use the transfer API for its own operations?
Yes. Transfers booked through the API appear in the operations view of your DMC software next to transfers from your own contracted vehicles, with driver details, pickup times and itinerary links. It replaces manual driver allocation sheets for the supplier-network portion of the work. See our DMC software page for how the operations module works.
